Welder Apprentice (2nd shift)

Location:

Caterpillar – North Little Rock, AR

Pay &

Schedule:

$21.10/hour + 2nd shift differential. Day ONE benefits. 2nd shift:
Monday – Friday, 3 p.m – 11 p.m. Overtime may be available with prior leader authorization.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize a variety of welding processes within the facility: 0.052" GMAW (MIG) in 1G/2G & 1F/2F positions; GTAW (TIG);
    Stud Welding; and other stations as required.
  • Pass Caterpillar-provided 6-week Weld School and 3 weeks OJT welder qualification tests (examples include): 0.052" GMAW – 2F – 8mm – Single Pass; 0.052" GMAW – 2F – 10mm – MULTI-PASS; 0.052" GMAW – 2G – 12.7mm – MULTI-PASS; 0.052" GMAW – 3F – 5mm; GTAW 3F-4F Toe dress.
  • Operate within a manufacturing environment with 15 robotic welding cells and 30+ weld stations to complete daily builds.
Basic Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of welding fundamentals.
  • Available to work during the introductory training period (6 weeks in Weld School & 3 weeks OJT).
  • Willingness to work 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM during the introductory training period.
Preferred / Top Candidate Qualities
  • Welding experience or completion of a technical/trade welding program.
  • Ability to work safely with required PPE.
  • Experience with GMAW, GTAW, and carbon arc gouging.
  • Ability to complete specific weld qualification tests (8mm – 2F, 10mm – 2F, 25mm – 2G) using 0.052" GMAW.
  • Ability to follow standard work instructions, read blueprints, and work overtime as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Sit, kneel, squat, or stand for prolonged periods; climb and descend ladders/ Platforms; perform repetitive operations; lift up to 35 lbs.
