job summary

the energy & environment program supervisor/expert is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and implementation of energy or environmental programs. This position involves managing teams, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and providing expertise in energy or environmental policies. The program supervisor/expert will work with stakeholders, including governmental bodies, the regulated community, and the public, to develop and execute initiatives aimed at enhancing arkansas' energy or environmental efforts.

responsibilities

supervise, lead, and mentor a team of professionals in energy or environmental program development and implementation. Develop and manage large-scale, complex energy or environmental programs across the state. Provide technical expertise and strategic guidance on policy development, regulatory compliance, and program evaluation. Monitor program performance, ensure alignment with state and federal laws and standards, and make necessary adjustments to achieve goals.

Manage budgets, grants, and resources for state energy and environmental programs. Collaborate with key stakeholders, including governmental bodies, the regulated community, and the public, to drive energy or environmental programs. Report to department leadership on the effectiveness and outcomes of energy or environment initiatives. Represent the state on national and regional platforms related to energy or environmental issues. Performance of other duties as assigned.

minimum qualifications

bachelor’s degree in environmental science, conservation biology, natural resources management, or a related field. At least 5 years of experience in energy or environmental program management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.

licensure/certifications

n/a other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee.

preferred qualifications

  • experience in management of federal or other grants and grant budgets
  • familiarity with weatherization and/or residential construction
