Healthcare Assistant

Working under the direct supervision of the Nurse Site Lead and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care. You will support the equality, diversity and rights of patients, carers and colleagues and manage their own and others health and safety and infection control as defined in the practice Health & Safety Policy, the practice Health & Safety Manual, and the practice Infection Control Policy and published procedures.

Venepuncture, ECG, BP Taking, Suture and Clip Removal, Wound, Dressings, Injections, Phlebotomy, Chaperoning Duties, Stock Ordering. To undertake patient Home Visits. To process and manage laboratory samples requested by GP/Nurses. To maintain surgical equipment. To prepare and maintain environments & equipment. Other tasks delegated by the Nurse Site Lead.

Riverside Brigg is a purpose built practice in the centreof Brigg. The branch surgeries are located in Broughton, Crowle, Keadby and Skipping dale. Five GP partner scare for nearly 24,000 patients; we are a Training Practice, host medical students and nurses and also offer work placements. We are a dispensing practice with a pharmacy in Brigg and Broughton and a dispensary at Crowle and Keadby.

The partners have specialist interests in Cardiology, Dermatology, Diabetes, Minor Surgery and Respiratory. The Urgent Care Team manages on the day demand offering emergency appointments and telephone advice. The practice nursing team manage long term conditions. The Practice Pharmacist's manage prescribing and medicines optimisation. The clinical teamis supported by a multi-professional administration team.

To undertake patient Home Visits for Long Term Conditions Review working within own competency and as delegated by qualified nurse within relevant field of care (e.g.Diabetes, CHD etc)

Tosupport and assist qualified nurses within Diabetes/Respiratory Clinics

Toprocess and manage laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses

To clean and maintain surgical equipment

Tostock rotate surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking

Toprepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions

To assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being

To undertake specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual

Tohelp raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted

Toassist with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health andwell-being

Toassist in clinics such as coil and Implanon insertion and removal

To assist in preparation for yearly calibration of practice equipment

To complete patient notes and tasks on clinical system relative to job role

• GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths
• HCA Experience in General Practice
• Qualified in Phlebotomy
• Knowledge of Systm One
• Good IT Skills and IT Literacy
• Ability to Work in a Busy Environment
