Position Summary:

Functions as a charge nurse responsible for assigning patients to and monitoring the work of nurses within the unit on assigned shift and to assist the Clinical Manager in the supervision of assigned employees on shift. The position also carries a patient load and applies the nursing process to deliver basic, safe, therapeutic care, for individuals or groups of patients.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

This classification is the fifth level in a six level nursing classification series. The Charge Nurse is distinguished from the Staff Nurse in that the Staff Nurse has no supervisory responsibilities.
