Job Overview
The role involves translating conceptual 3D designs into AutoCAD models and producing construction and fabrication drawings for custom trade show exhibits.
Responsibilities- Convert 3D concepts into accurate AutoCAD models (2D drafting, 3D modeling, layouts, production design and detailing).
- Generate full sets of construction and fabrication drawings, including shop drawings, assembly details, exploded views, material callouts, and BOMs.
- Produce control, staging and show packages in collaboration with the CAD department.
- Coordinate with direct manager and operations manager on product feasibility and constructability.
- Coordinate with current CAD, and CNC technician to refine models, optimize machining, and prepare files for nesting and cut-lists.
- Work with fabricators and CNC specialist to confirm buildability, tolerances, load‑in/rigging requirements, and local fire‑code compliance.
- Update drawings promptly based on client or internal revisions.
- Maintain and update the local CAD library, templates, blocks, and standards for project consistency.
- Keep project files organized and version‑controlled for team use.
- Collaborate on and adhere to production schedules.
- Minimum five years of CAD experience, preferably in exhibits, events, or custom fabrication.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (2D drafting, 3D modeling, layouts, production design and detailing).
- Knowledge of common materials: aluminum framing, wood type sheet good, PVC, acrylic, laminates, fabric, LED panels – and their fabrication limits.
- Ability to collaborate with programmers and fabricators on tolerances, nesting, and assembly.
- Detail‑oriented, efficient, and able to meet aggressive deadlines.
- Prior trade show or exhibit design experience.
- Familiarity with booth building, rigging, load‑in, applicable codes, and CNC file preparation.
- Salary commensurate with experience.
