Responsibilities

The Engineering department seeks a talented individual to serve as the Divisional Manager of the Engineering Integration Division
. This role reports to the Engineering Director and interfaces with Design Engineering Management, Project Planning and Delivery (PP&D), Program Management, Construction, and Facility Management. The Manager has overall responsibility for managing Project Engineering, Project Engineering for Capital Line-Item Projects, Engineering Acquisition, and Field Engineering.

  • Lead and manage Project Engineering, Project Engineering for Capital Line-Item Projects, Engineering Acquisition Services, and Field Engineering personnel.
  • Mature work processes and restructure Project Engineering as a function of a Control Account Manager (CAM) for design projects.
  • Manage Design Engineering acquisition capabilities.
  • Maintain a centralized acquisition process for the Engineering Directorate, including Design Engineering Subcontract Technical Representative (STR) functions.
  • Continuously evaluate resource availability and respond to customer demand by hiring employees and/or using staff augmentation resources.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations, mid-year reviews, and provide mentoring, coaching, and personnel development.
  • Interface with Design Engineering Management to determine resource allocation for projects.
  • Interface with multiple Program Managers, Project Managers, Facility Engineering, and Management.
  • Conduct Management Assessments, attend monthly project status meetings, develop and maintain metrics, and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provide daily oversight and direction to 20+ individuals with the ability to function with minimal oversight.
  • Provide technical and professional guidance to staff, interpret processes/procedures, codes and standards, coordinate technical training, and ensure staff has necessary tools/software.
  • Participate in audits from government agencies and internal organizations; prepare presentations as requested by management.
  • Collaborate with customers to address issues/requests; coordinate with project and program managers to set priorities and assign tasks to meet priorities.
  • Exercise discretion and judgment in performing work and evaluating operation/process effectiveness.
  • Initiate changes to implement process improvements.
  • Collaborate with other work groups, outside agencies, customers/sponsors, and suppliers to execute projects and programs.
  • Develop relationships as needed to perform work effectively.
  • Provide guidance to students, interns, contractors, and other support personnel as a mentor or team/project leader.
  • Qualifications

    Required

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience, with a minimum of 17 years of related and progressively responsible experience.
    • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering program accredited by ABET is preferred for Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical engineering (or calculus-based STEM bachelor’s degree in engineering, or Professional Engineer license).
    • Minimum of 5 years supervising engineering staff (preferred).
    • Innovative with strong problem-solving skills.

    • Working knowledge of Earned Value Management System (EVMS).
