Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Responsibilities

The MSTS Maintenance and Reliability Engineering team is seeking a full‑time Engineer II to be the Responsible Engineer for the General Service Facilities in the Forward Area. The engineer's work location will be Forward Area at the Nevada National Security Sites (NNSS), reporting to the Maintenance and Reliability Engineering Lead.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Responsible Engineer for General Service Facilities in the Forward Area.
  • Ensure the correct preventive/predictive maintenance requirements are identified in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Develop and incorporate the Proactive/Predictive part of the Maintenance Program, which includes assistance to pre and post maintenance testing for history and trending prediction.
  • Upgrade and maintain the Maintenance History and Trending Schedule.
  • Provide technical assistance to the maintenance planners in developing work packages as required.
  • Identify types and quantity of replacement parts required for spare parts inventory using maintenance history and predictive maintenance results.
  • Review work order changes including PM deferrals and calculations for technical issues and code compliance.
  • Provide alternative actions whenever a PM is failing or has failed.
  • Understand and implement Condition Based Maintenance Activities where appropriate.
  • Other tasks as assigned by Management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) required for Civil, Mechanical and Electrical engineering degrees (Electrical Engineer preferred)
  • Or, Calculus‑based STEM bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Or, for Architects, Certification from the National Council or Architectural Registration Board (NCARB)
  • Or Professional Engineer license
  • Plus at least 2 years' relevant experience. Skill building experience must demonstrate either deeper technical specialization or additional cross‑disciplinary knowledge; graduate research experience may be recognized.
  • Working knowledge of Maximo or comparable CMMS.
  • Course work in electric power systems analysis, vibration theory and analysis, heat transfer, thermodynamics, or controls is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret codes and standards within the discipline hired.
  • Knowledge of Facility and Utility systems.
  • Background in Systems Engineering is a plus.
  • Training or classes in any of the following standards NFPA 13, NFPA 20, NFPA 27, NFPA 72 a plus.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required and can write reports and technical publications and presentations.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point is desirable.
  • Be self‑motivated and able to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision but know when to ask for help.
