Reporting

directly to the Group FD and the Board

This role would suit an ambitious Senior Accounts Assistant/Assistant Accountant/PQA, eager to upskill and progress their career, study towards becoming a professionally qualified accountant with the support of the business. You

Dedicated and detail-focused, you will have an Accounting degree or be AAT Level 3 qualified and, planning to, or already working towards a professional qualification such as CGMA (CIMA) or ACCA. You must be a quick learner, able to work confidentially and rapidly earn trust. You will possess strong organisational skills and be able to exercise initiative. The following are pre-requisites:

  • Existing experience in an accounting role
  • Ambitious and eager to be challenged
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel, Power BI and accounting software including Sage Line 50, Xero, Intuit Quick Books.
The Role

This role is centred on general ledger work, transaction import/journal entry, trial balance reconciliations, accounts preparation and financial analysis.

Sales and Purchase ledgers are managed separately.

You will be responsible for maintaining the general ledger and trial balance which will include transaction imports and journal entries with reconciliations for:

  • Credit Cards
  • Fixed assets & depreciation
  • Borrowings – loans & HP interest and capital allocations
  • Other balance sheet items

you will assist with and have a progressing contribution towards preparing:

  • Monthly management accounts preparations
  • Sales reports and analysis
  • VAT return submissions
  • Pension administration
  • Payroll data collection, submission to bureau and follow up reconciliation
  • Divisional performance analysis
  • Data preparation in support of grant and funding applications
  • Research & Development tax claims

This is a development role that the successful candidate will grow with as the business grows. You should think of it as a customer facing role where your customers are the other stakeholders of the business that require financial data and analysis to support their decision making and to achieve the growth ambitions for the business. This is not a static role.
