Job Description:
The Receiver role within the Distribution Center (“DC”) of Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” and “Company”) receives merchandise into the Warehouse Management System using an radio frequency (“RF”) scanner in a manner that meets established standards in safety, quality, and productivity. Additional responsibilities include unloading trailers and containers, using powered equipment, ensuring items are inspected for damage and verified against worksheets while noting any discrepancies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accurately complete and submit daily productivity sheets.
- Receive and sort merchandise into warehouse inventory with real time RF scanner to facilitate reporting of shortages, overages, and damages.
- Verify accuracy of freight by inspecting samples of each product.
- Ensure pallets are properly built with no overhang or height restriction violations.
- Work in compliance with standard operating procedures, audit‑control procedures, and OSHA requirements.
- Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean workspace to meet or exceed area safety, quality, and productivity standards.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Prior experience is welcomed, but not required. The Receiver role will receive specific training on equipment, processes, and all receiving functions ensuring an understanding of the Receiving function.
- Successful training and completion of equipment operations in alignment with OSHA standards.
- Prior knowledge of safety related and OSHA, federal and state regulations are preferred.
- Ability to operate industrial powered equipment and attain any associated licensing.
- Ability to physically unload merchandise and operate technology such as an RF scanner.
- Ability to multitask while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to meet area productivity, quality, safety, housekeeping and attendance standards.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English; bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills as required for a team environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The DC warehouse environment is characterized by temperature extremes, noise, movement of conveyors and power equipment, and other conditions associated with the operation of a high volume distribution center.
