Overview
The Supervisor of Logistics is responsible for overseeing transportation, heavy equipment operations and in-process material delivery for 2nd shift.
Responsibilities- Supervise hourly and salaried departmental personnel across all shifts and daily departmental operations
- Adhere to safe work practices
- Utilize a variety of standard concepts, practices and procedures, and company policies; rely on metrics that measure incoming and outgoing demands, along with experience and judgment to plan and accomplish department/organizational goals
- Work with Electric Boat operating systems
- Facilitate the movement of material and ensure deliveries are scanned to drop zones
- Communicate workflow between shifts
- Be responsible for fleet readiness, PMs, repairs, etc.
- Develop and implement metrics for delivery performance and material goals/plans
- Exercise independent creativity and latitude
- Promote and actively support EBQP Process Improvement System and attain facility departmental goals
- Work with the EBQP Process Improvement Team to define and eliminate waste to reduce the cost of material handling
- Document processes and provide training to team members
- Ensure compliance with all DOT/CFR regulations
- Assist with the facility forklift APT (Accident Prevention Program)
This position is located in Quonset Point at the North Kingstown, RI location.
QualificationsRequired:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 4 years of supply-chain, warehousing, and/or transportation experience
- A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience
- Must be able to attain hazmat transportation qualifications
- Must be available to work all shifts, including extended hours and weekends as business needs dictate
- Understand safe operating procedures for various forklifts and be able to work with EB Inventory Tracking system
- Ability to manage functions that include transportation and material distribution
- Flexible and able to work in all weather conditions
- Ability to understand and learn Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Scanning
Preferred:
- Associates degree or higher in Business or Supply Chain Management
- Heavy equipment and tractor trailer operation experience
- Tractor Trailer experience
- CFR certification
- Shipyard experience
- Navy/Military experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail oriented and organized
- Organizational, interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Strong commitment toward safety
- Strong interpersonal skills interfacing with hourly, salary, and upper management
