Finlays Solutions’ Analytical Research Intern will take part in practical research projects in the tea and coffee beverage industry. This role will provide a fantastic opportunity to understand how analytical chemistry is used in industry. Additionally, training on commonly used advanced analytical equipment including HPLC and GC-MS will be provided.

- Complete a summer project relating to a current topic of interest for Finlays Solutions.
- Conduct routine analytical testing and supply results within the standard turnaround time.
- Closely follow internal standard operating procedures for all tests and laboratory operations.
- Follow documentation procedures by keeping an organized and detailed record of all laboratory work.
- Maintain the inventory of laboratory consumables.
- Clean laboratory glassware and equipment daily.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and communicate findings and resolutions.
- Carry out other miscellaneous duties.
- Desire to learn about advanced analytical techniques including HPLC and GC-MS.
- Some experience with basic laboratory equipment and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Not afraid to ask questions.
- Effective and concise written and oral communication skills.
- Detail oriented.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Preferred to be currently enrolled in a four-year Food Science or Natural Science degree program.
- Laboratory and office.
- Handling of hazardous chemicals.
