Overview
This position is for the Quonset Point Quality Assurance Representative reporting to the Supervisor of Ship Certification. This position also reports indirectly to the Director of Submarine Safety, Deep Submergence Systems, Fly-By-Wire Ship Control Systems and Quality Assurance (QA). This position supports the Quality Management System and SEP Programs (SUBSAFE, DSS-SOC and FBW SCS) for work accomplished at the Quonset Point Facility.
Assignments include SEP technical support; special investigations; problem resolution; interface with planning and work execution; support and documentation of work and certifications for ships. The successful candidate must possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
Note: This description also notes that the candidate may assist in review, modification and implementation of Quality procedures and participate in various certification and audit activities.
Responsibilities- Assist in review, modification and implementation of Quality procedures
- Certification of the following:
Material Quality, Controlled Pipe Joint (CPJ), Mechanical Joint Records (MJR), Structural Joint Records (SWSS), and Reentry Control - Perform Quality related drawing and specification reviews
- Provide support of NAVSEA audits (Phase 1, Phase II, Functional, and NAVSEA 08)
- Support ISO certification audits for the facility
- Support internal investigations into Quality matters
- Interface regularly with internal and external customers
This position is located at the North Kingstown, RI location. Although the position is to support 1st shift operations, the selected candidate must be willing and able to work an alternate schedule including weekends as required to support business need.
QualificationsRequired:
- High School Diploma/GED
- 2+ years of QA or deckplate construction support experience
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the Department of Defense
- Must be willing to travel if required for Audits (~10% of time or less)
- Knowledge of SUBSAFE, DSS-SOC, and FBW SCS certification requirements
Preferred:
- Previous experience reading and interpreting blue prints and/or electronic "drawings"
- Previous experience with a variety of NDT (MT, PT, RT, UT) and inspection documentation (SWSS/ERS weld tickets, CPJ 905 cards, 2552 s, RUT s, Ripouts, etc.)
- Experience with EB's electronic systems including CPJ, ERS and 7G
- Experience with Artemis, MRPII, Electronic Desktop, Business Objects and Team Center
- Previous military experience
- Training in quality auditing and/or quality management
- Knowledge of SUBSAFE, DSS-SOC, and FBW SCS certification requirements
- Must possess problem solving abilities
- Must possess attention to detail and accuracy
- Familiarity with MDD-03128, MDD-01505, MDD-02268, MDD-01737, EBP-03287
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, PPT)
- Must possess independent thinking
- Must be able to read and interpret company policies and procedures
- Ability to perform in a role that requires high level of trust and integrity
- Ability to continuously improve self and core business processes
- Work effectively on teams as well as independently
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally with internal & external customers including:
Operations, Groton QA, Test, Planning, and SSGR
