Junior Lifeguard

Overview

JUNIOR Lifeguards – Full and Part-time summer positions for assisting guarding at Town facilities. Required to have and maintain current Rhode Island certifications as required by the State of RI, including Non-Surf Beach Credential, First Aid, CPR and AED certifications. The Town of North Kingstown will reimburse for some of the certifications and will pair you with a mentor for training.

Some hours will be worked independently once comfortable. Will be required to work weekends & holidays and must be 15-16 years of age. Required to work from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend and be aware of schedule conflicts in advance of committing to the summer season. The season does require work on holidays and holiday weekends.

The Beach is only open weekends in June then 7 days a week until Labor Day. Operational hours are 9am-5pm. Please reach out to (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). with any questions or concerns.

• Vigilance
  : constantly monitor the water and beach area for safety concerns.
• Water rescue
  :
  Lifeguards should be able to dive under large surf, perform water rescue techniques and bring a victim to the shoreline.
• First aid
  : staff should be able to provide basic first aid.
• Communication
  : staff should be able to communicate clearly with others, especially supervisors in a professional manner
• Attention to detail
  :
  Lifeguards should be aware of what s going on around them and have attention to detail.
• Safety consciousness
  : staff should be safety conscious and have a sense of responsibility.
• Teamwork
  : staff should be able to work with a team.
• Patience
  : staff should have patience, especially when dealing with beach patrons

• Current Rhode Island certifications as required by the State of RI, including Non-Surf Beach Credential, First Aid, CPR and AED.
• Must be 15-16 years of age.
• Available for Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend and able to work weekends and holidays.
• Willing to work both supervised and independent hours as assigned.

Holiday work is required, including Memorial Day, Independence Day, Victory Day, and Labor Day.
