Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Layout, fabrication, assembly, and installation of foundations, structures, bulkheads, frames, components, and deck packages
- Developing a working knowledge of structural weld joint fit-up/weld symbols, burning, and grinding operations
- Aligning parts in relation to each other using jacks, clips, and wedges through the use of blueprints and templates
- Tack-welding structural parts as required
- Utilizing hands and power tools in the steel fabrication trade
- Ability to read and interpret written policies, procedures, and guidelines as work assignments will be accomplished using company drawings, test documents, technical manuals, and shipyard procedures
- Basic mathematic ability
This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma/GED, OR a minimum of 2 years related technical experience
- Available to work all shifts
- Ability to work at heights, confined spaces, and extreme temperature conditions as required
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents, blueprints, diagrams, and perform basic layout functions
- Individuals are required to possess their own basic hand tools
Preferred:
- Steel fabrication or carpentry experience
- Experience working in the construction industry or a manufacturing environment
- Basic mathematical skills
- Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs
- Military/Navy experience
