Systems Engineer, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace / Aviation / Avionics
At REGENT, we’re on a mission to revolutionize regional transportation between coastal cities. We're not just building vehicles, we're creating a new category of transportation: the seaglider. These groundbreaking wing-in-ground-effect craft travel just above the water’s surface, combining the speed of an airplane with the low operating costs of a boat. Capable of 180 miles at 180 mph on today's battery tech (and up to 400 miles with next-gen batteries), seagliders will unlock fast, affordable, and sustainable coastal transit for passengers and cargo - connecting cities, islands, and communities like never before.
Backed by leading investors and powered by a team of passionate, forward-thinking engineers, builders, and operators, we’re now scaling from a breakthrough prototype to full production - and building the team to make it happen.
Role OverviewAs a Senior Systems Engineer
, you’ll play a key role in shaping how these revolutionary vehicles are designed, verified, and certified for safe, reliable passenger service around the world. This role is about more than requirements and documentation - it’s about engineering clarity out of complexity.
You’ll define and trace the relationships between systems, requirements, and safety analyses, ensuring our vehicles are built for certification from day one. As part of the certification team, you’ll be joining a group of driven, collaborative, and talented engineers who take pride in solving complex technical challenges and making an impact as a team. We hold a high bar for engineering rigor, move quickly, think boldly, and rely on our teamwork to push boundaries and bring entirely new technology into the world.
If you’re energized by working at the intersection of cutting‑edge innovation, real‑world impact, and hands‑on engineering, you’ll be in the right place - and we’d be thrilled to have you on the team!
What You’ll Do- Engineer for Certifiability: Develop and manage systems engineering artifacts that underpin Seaglider certification - requirements, verification plans, and compliance evidence that turn breakthrough engineering into certifiable reality.
- Bridge Design and Safety: Work closely with safety, hardware, and software teams to derive, verify, and validate system requirements from high‑level safety analyses and regulatory documents.
- Drive Verification
Activities:
Create and execute verification procedures in collaboration with the certification and engineering teams, ensuring system requirements are fully validated and connected to the certification path. - Shape Certification Strategy: Translate evolving regulations into clear, actionable requirements and verification plans. You’ll help define what certification looks like for an entirely new class of vehicle.
- Build the Traceability Backbone: Use systems engineering tools like Jama, Polarion, or DOORS to ensure every system requirement, test, and hazard is accounted for, traceable, and verifiable.
- Experience working on safety‑critical systems in a regulated domain such as aerospace, maritime, medical, or nuclear.
- Deep understanding of requirements development, verification, and validation processes.
- Hands‑on experience with system‑level testing and verification in a complex hardware–software environment.
- Familiarity with risk‑based analyses such as FHA, FTA, FMEA, and ZHA.
- Proficiency with requirements management tools (Jama, DOORS, Polarion, or equivalent).
- Technical foundation in aerodynamics, hydrodynamics, electrical, mechanical, or controls systems.
- (Bonus) Flying, sailing, or boating experience - an appreciation for the water helps!
- Collaborative Team Player: You believe that great things happen when teams work together. You communicate effectively and collaborate with engineers, stakeholders, and other cross‑functional teams to align on goals and move projects forward. You bring people together, ensuring that everyone is on the same page and moving towards a shared vision.
