Position: Full-Time Intake RN

Overview

Heritage Oaks Hospital is part of the UHS Family of Providers and has been a key part of the greater Sacramento and Northern California mental health system since 1988. Located in northern Sacramento, Heritage Oaks is a fully accredited, 125-bed acute psychiatric hospital offering a full range of individually tailored treatment services to adolescents, adults, and senior adults, including treatment for substance abuse and chemical dependency issues with drugs and alcohol.

Heritage Oaks Hospital is looking for an Assessment & Referral Registered Nurse (RN) to join the team.

Responsibilities
  • Conducts and documents the Direct and Comprehensive assessments required for patients to determine dispositions.
  • Participates in screening patients for admission into hospital programs, utilizing pre-approved admissions criteria.
  • Reviews referrals and determines appropriateness for patient admission criteria with assistance of policy and procedures.

The Admissions Nurse is a Staff RN who is responsible for ensuring that the admission process is carried out properly. The RN utilizes the nursing process and adheres to established standards of care, mental health practices, and hospital policy, goals and objectives in executing this responsibility. This position also ensures that admissions are managed in a timely and courteous manner.

Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required. A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of two (2) years experience as a registered nurse in a psychiatric health care facility preferred.
  • Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the State Board of Nursing.
  • Additional Requirements: Must pass a medication administration exam before administering medications. CPR certification and successful completion of the hospital’s designated physical and behavioral management training program, including de-escalation and appropriate use of seclusion and restraint, required prior to assisting in the procedures. Incumbent may be required to work overtime or flexible hours.
