Per-Diem Van Driver, Benhaven Transportation Department

Benhaven Driving Department is seeking 1 Per Diem Van Drivers to cover for when Full‑time Van Drivers are off. This is a non‑exempt unionized position. The Driver will report directly to the Driver Supervisor. The ideal candidates will have V‑Endorsement, but we will provide the training to become V‑Endorsed if needed. Flexibility is a must in this position. Van Drivers are expected to drive in the North Haven, Wallingford and other surrounding areas.

The following duties are assigned to this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Drive students to and from school daily.
• Provide transportation for schools for recreational activities as needed throughout the day in the Wallingford area.
• Keep assigned vehicle clean and tidy.
• Complete pre‑trip inspection of assigned vehicle.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Make sure all endorsements and licensures are up to date per agency policies & requirements.
• Attend all required trainings per agency and state policies & requirements.
• Follow all agency Policies & Procedures.

• ‘V’ Endorsement is preferred, but will provide the training if needed
• Flexibility
• Clean Driver’s record
• Able to pass a DOT physical
• Able to pass a variety of background checks
