The Wheelchair Van Driver is a provider of safe and efficient care and transportation to non-ambulatory or disabled persons normally confined to a wheelchair or in need of other patient assist devices. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

ResponsibilitiesEDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent required.
EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience desired.
LICENSURE
CPR and First Aid Certification. Holds and maintains a motor vehicle operator license in the state of legal residence Free of any criminal history or convictions that would restrict the ability to maintain motor vehicle operator licensure.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively represent the Company when communicating with clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with a critical situation, should a patient emergency occur. Knowledge of primary streets/routes in the service area, some familiarity with medical facilities. Demonstrates mature and confident mannerisms necessary for reassuring patients.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
Must have the physical ability, stamina, and motor coordination to safely assist patients in and out of wheelchairs; move wheelchairs up and down 3 or fewer stairs, up and down ramps, and over uneven terrain; operate and maintain motor vehicles and equipment. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 150 pounds.
