Overview
Lee County is seeking a responsible, attentive, and energetic Lifeguard to help ensure public safety at our county swimming pool. This role plays a key part in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming aquatic environment for residents and visitors. You’ll supervise swimmers, teach aquatic programs, support daily operations, and help ensure the facility meets all state and local health and safety standards.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with the public, staying active, and making a meaningful impact in the community.
What You Will Do- Supervise swimmers and enforce safety rules to prevent accidents and injuries
- Teach aquatic programs, including swim lessons and water aerobics
- Clean and maintain the pool and surrounding areas
- Ensure the facility complies with all state and local health and safety codes
- Assist the Program Supervisor with daily operations, including:
- Monitoring and tracking daily revenue
- Completing safety inspections
- Preparing incident and accident reports
- Inputting and tracking class participation and daily attendance
- Assist with special events as assigned
- Contribute to a positive, safe, and welcoming environment for all visitors
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent)
- Six (6) months of experience in recreation, aquatic facility operations, or a related field
- Driving is required
; must possess a valid Driver’s License
- CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers
- Standard First Aid
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
, Star Guard Lifeguard Certification
, or a nationally recognized equivalent- Star Guard includes CPR/AED, Oxygen Administration, and First Aid
- Star Guard Lifeguard Certification (if not already held)
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification
- Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) Certification or equivalent
This is a hands-on, active role where your work directly supports community safety and wellness. You will:
- Help residents and visitors safely enjoy aquatic activities
- Work in a supportive team environment with opportunities for growth
- Gain valuable experience in aquatic programming, pool operations, and public safety
- Make a meaningful contribution to the health and well-being of Lee County residents
