Casualty Claims Specialist / Sr. Claims Specialist-Specialty Human Services Division
Join as a Casualty Claims Specialist / Sr. Claims Specialist in the Specialty Human Services Division (SHS) at Great American Insurance Group. The position is based in our downtown Cincinnati office, with a hybrid schedule of 3 days in‑office and 2 days work‑from‑home; remote candidates will also be considered.
Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities- Manage a large inventory of claims to evaluate compensability and liability.
- Plan and conduct claim investigations to confirm coverage and determine liability, compensability and damages.
- Determine and negotiate appropriate claim settlements/reserves within assigned authority, and may attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials.
- Convey complex information regarding coverage and settlements to insureds, claimants and external partners.
- Authorize payments in accordance with assigned authority limits and ensure timely payment execution.
- Maintain accurate and detailed claim files, including all correspondence, reports, and settlement agreements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management and Insurance, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience. - Experience:
Minimum 5–7 years of property and casualty claims handling; progression toward a professional designation such as Associate in Claims (AIC) is preferred. - Qualifications:
Ability to work within significant limits and authority on high‑complexity assignments. Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills; knowledge of insurance policies, coverage, and claims procedures; up‑to‑date understanding of industry laws and regulations. Excellent interpersonal, communication and confidentiality skills.
