NDDOT Starting Salary: $5,539 per month
Responsibilities- As an Equipment Operator III, perform highway, roadway, and structure maintenance, operating heavy equipment to perform required maintenance duties including basic snow and ice control/removal.
- Complete highway maintenance duties, including assisting in installing, repairing, and maintaining highway signs and guardrails, using power tools and other equipment.
- Keep roadways clear of hazards, including litter, waste, debris, garbage, and carcasses.
- Possibly step into roles such as Building Specialist, Be Smart Program Leader, Traffic Control Specialist, or Academy/District Instructor.
- Perform general routine maintenance of roadway and radio system equipment; conduct minor preventive and repair maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
- Maintain necessary paperwork, including time records, activity reporting, daily diary, road reports, and construction project duties.
- Be the decision maker for the section when the supervisor is absent.
- Support a safe working environment for yourself, coworkers, and others as part of the organizational culture.
- Minimum Qualifications:
Requires two years work experience at the Equipment Operator II level. - Or high school diploma or GED and three years of work experience with heavy equipment operations, highway maintenance or construction-related work, and a class A driver’s license with air brakes and a cargo tanker endorsement.
- Two years of college coursework in engineering, heavy equipment operation or maintenance may substitute for up to two years of the work experience requirement.
- Work on night shift may be required; work on weekends and holidays during emergency events; may need to report within 30 minutes during emergency or storm situations.
- Previous experience in safely operating equipment such as tractors with attachments, farm trucks, etc. preferred.
- Employment contingent on satisfactory completion of interview process and required drug test, medical screening, reference check, driver record check, and federal clearinghouse query screening.
