Summary of Work
Job Duration:
Two temporary positions available – one up to 6 months and one up to 3 months. Up to 40 hours per week with negotiable start and end dates.
The Grounds & Maintenance Technician will execute tasks with a positive attitude, neat appearance, and friendly demeanor. The role is responsible for:
- Performing landscaping activities, including lawn mowing, string trimming, and tree pruning.
- Maintaining general cleanliness of the site, including removing trash, picking up debris, sweeping, and ensuring public areas are clean and presentable.
- Maintaining machinery and tools in proper working order.
- Performing some painting of structures, both interior and exterior.
- Assisting in setting up for room rentals, including outdoor rentals.
- Assisting with interpretive gardens, including weeding and maintenance.
- Completing tasks assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including holidays, weekends, and evenings.
- Must be able to lift/move 50 pounds.
- Must have experience using machinery and tools such as riding lawn mowers, skid steers, chainsaws, string trimmers, power drills, and various hand tools.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and work with other team members.
The Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center highlights some of the area's most famous travelers and residents over hundreds of years along a special stretch of the Missouri River. Each gallery tells the story of different groups and people who contributed to the regional history of the United States and North Dakota. Nearby, visitors can step back in time at the reconstructed Fort Mandan, a fully furnished, full‑sized replica of the fort where the Lewis & Clark Expedition overwintered in 1804‑1805.
Their time there was characterized by the hospitality of the Mandan and Hidatsa peoples, and by friendships with figures such as Sacagawea, Toussaint Charbonneau, and Sheheke‑Shote.
