Emergency Room RN – Trauma Level IV (Acute Stroke Ready) ER Setup: 2 ER rooms + 1 overflow No fast track, psych rooms, or holding area No in-house security (911 response) Avg. 4–5 patients/day Ratio: 2:1 (Charge RN has no assignment) Requirements: ER experience (similar setting) BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (TNCC preferred) Common Cases:
Acute illness, trauma, ortho, cardiac (STEMI ship out) Common drips:
Heparin, Cardizem, Nitro Unit Notes:
No RT or monitor tech (RN manages ABGs, EKGs, tele, breathing treatments) Phlebotomy draws labs Radiology on-call after hours Float to Med/Surg Scheduling: 7a–7p or 7p–7a, self-scheduling Every other weekend & holiday Low census on-call possible Dress Code:
Any scrub color, closed-toe shoes Orientation: 1 day + 1 night shift on unit
