Job SummaryThe Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides service to patients in designated care settings, including acute, short and long-term care, by assisting physicians, assessing patients, and treating injuries and ailments. The NP obtains a thorough medical history, performs examinations, collaborates with healthcare professionals to diagnose, coordinates care, formulates treatment plans, prescribes medications as legally authorized, maintains records, consults referrals, provides patient education, may cover hospital consultations and assist with procedures.
Conducts research, incorporates evidence-based guidelines, stays current on state regulations, and demonstrates advanced knowledge of medical principles.
- Completion of a master’s, postmaster’s, or doctorate from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
- Licensed prior to August 1, 1995; master’s degree in nursing preferred.
- Demonstrated current competence with adequate patient volume; completion of master’s in past twelve months.
- Current licensure by applicable state board of nursing for advanced practice; current DEA permit.
- Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (NP-C or FNP-BC).
- Obtain and maintain required department competencies and certifications.
- NP or PA position; schedule M-F, no holidays, only nursing home call; clinic only; new grads considered.
- Family medicine and nursing home call; minor procedures possible.
- Team includes 1 physicians & 10 APPs; FTE preferred at 1.0, could be no less than .8.
