Employee Type:
Intern (Trainee). This position is designed for students currently pursuing an associate or technical degree, who have completed a portion of their curriculum, and will be completing their program after the intern experience. It is not designed for graduates.
Duties/Tasks:
- Work independently or cooperatively with other survey crew members to perform field surveys.
- Stake for: TS/SS stripping and respread, overburden removal, ramps, haul roads, county roads, underground utilities, ponds, sumps, diversion, etc.
- Stake and survey drill holes, piezometer locations and aerial flight target locations.
- Load GPS files into equipment.
- Assist with coal and geologic drilling/sampling, overburden sampling, and surface water runoff sampling.
- Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures and State and Federal Environmental regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The successful applicant should have a working knowledge of survey practices in an operating surface mine, competent knowledge of safety and environmental rules and regulations, knowledge of electronic survey equipment and GPS survey equipment, in addition to good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Educational Requirements:Enrolled in an accredited technical program and in good academic standing.

Starting Salary: $25.87 (Hourly)
