Location: Watford City
Overview
The Engineer I provides professional field and office civil engineering work. This position reports to the Assistant County Engineer and is located in Watford City, ND. Level and salary commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities- Under the supervision of the Assistant County Engineer, acts as an inspector on construction projects.
- Inspects items such as hot bituminous pavement, concrete pavement, earthwork, culvert installation, etc.
- Monitors and keeps accurate, daily records of contractor operations to assure project is built according to plans and specifications.
- Supervise materials sampling/testing and construction surveying on the project.
- Checks the dimensions and tolerances of constructed roadway features to ensure conformance to plans and specifications.
- Measures, computes and documents pay items to ensure proper payment for work done under the contract.
- Provides technical assistance and consults with other Departments regarding engineering functions, site development, drainage, and transportation.
- Reviews prepared plans and contract documents for projects to ensure County standards are being met.
- Assists with permit inspections to ensure compliance with approved permit and relevant standards, as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited post-secondary institution.
- Engineer Intern registration or the ability to obtain within 6 months
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must be able to report to Watford City, ND daily at required schedule time
- Extensive knowledge of computers, computer programs, scanning equipment and various other office machines
- Ability to use CAD systems
- Knowledge of construction management
- Extensive organizational skills and communication skills
- Must be a self-starter and goal oriented
- Able to handle exposure to noise and extreme weather conditions
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, kneel, stoop, sit, walk extensively
