• Decision making:
  Responsible for making decisions surrounding vehicle diagnostics and repair
• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard vehicle maintenance, preventive maintenance, and complex repairs with minimal support
• Access and use internal and external maintenance documents; diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems with minimal support, using diagnostic computers/software where applicable
• Perform remote triage with RCRC and customers to determine the best solution for roadside breakdowns
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the complaint
• Instruct and advise other technicians regarding maintenance repair procedures and diagnostics
• Coordinate with non-contractual customers to independently facilitate preventative maintenance, repair issue resolution, and discuss new repair estimates; coordinate work schedules as required by customers; road-test vehicles to identify causes of complaints and ensure quality of repairs
• Preventive maintenance and vehicle repairs include but are not limited to the items listed under PM and related tasks; ensure proper maintenance of all service, safety and environmental records
• Utilize Shop Management System and electronic documentation; perform work in accordance with safety, DOT, and corporate compliance guidelines
• Perform other duties as assigned

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) and diagnostics/repairs including AC and electrical systems
• Advanced skilled repairs including major engine repairs, diesel aftertreatment or automotive fuel injection repairs
• Four or more years of relevant work experience preferred
• CDL Class A preferred; other state licenses as required
• Four or more years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy- and medium-duty equipment
• Must have minimum tools required to perform job duties as outlined in Ryder’s Maintenance policy 2.02
• Ability to drive Ryder vehicles and take home assigned mobile service truck where applicable
• Ability to understand and adhere to company policies; complete repair orders using established systems
• Strong customer service, account management, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; prioritize workload; multi-task and manage time effectively
• Attention to detail and follow-up
• Entrepreneurial spirit; self-starter and self-sufficient
• PM230 & PM298 within 90 days; additional PM and electrical/drive-related trainings as listed in the original posting
• Must pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background and motor vehicle checks for the last 3 years
