Job Summary
Job Summary The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for the preventative maintenance, repair, and service of the company’s vehicles and landscaping equipment. This role ensures that all machinery and equipment are operational, safe, and efficient, supporting the smooth functioning of landscaping operations. The mechanic will diagnose issues, perform preventative maintenance, and repair various types of landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, skid steers, carts and vehicles.
The individual must be proficient with mechanical and technical skills, have good problem-solving skills and good communication skills for interacting with team members. This position reports directly to the Fleet Manager and works closely with Fleet Shop Manager, the crew leaders and branch team.

- Follow safety rules and regulations
- Perform preventative maintenance such as oil changes, tire changes and other vehicle services
- Complete basic work service orders, sharpen blades, replace string lines and filters
- Repair vehicles, trailers, carts and equipment correctly, safely, and efficiently
- Evaluate the return and condition of landscape equipment, making repair recommendations
- Ensure equipment is clean, properly maintained and in good working order
- Provide updates, recommendations, and regular communication to Shop Manager and Fleet Manager
- Maintain service records with accurate documentation for all work performed on each unit
- Keep work area and shop common areas clean and organized
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent desired
- 1+ Years of experience performing service repairs
- 1+ Years of experience as a Small Engine Mechanic or Small Engine Technician
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills a must
- Must possess a current Class C Driver’s License with clean MVR records
- Ability to read and write the English language
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus but not required
- Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair of landscape equipment
- Have full range of mobility in upper and lower body
- Be able to reach overhead
- Be able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time
- Be able to pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks
- Be able to lift 75 pounds
- Position may require extended work hours and flexibility in scheduling
- Travel to other locations in and out of state may be required and may include overnight stays
- This work may be performed outside in all sorts of weather conditions (i.e., hot, humid, cold, wet, windy, rain, snow) which means the person will need to be adequately prepared
