Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Hourly Pay: $29.50 per hour
Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
Quarterly Bonus: Ryder pays you up to $500 every quarter – four times per year
Sign On Bonus: $1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days
Schedule: Monday through Friday
Hours: Second Shift 1:30 pm – 10:00 pm

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred)
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) and component repairs
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience (preferred)
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
• Must be able to obtain a CDL within six months after hire
• Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background/motor‑vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years)

Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check, a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Perform standard vehicle maintenance, component inspections, and repairs
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint when assigned a task
• Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation available
• Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Perform other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., service island support)
