Food Service Worker Lead - Charleston Southern Univ.
We are looking for a Food Service Worker Lead to manage food service operations at Charleston Southern University. The role requires leading a team, ensuring high-quality food prep, and delivering excellent customer service.
Job Responsibilities- Lead all aspects of and assist in preparation of food items for the day and dating products.
- Coordinate and assist in setting up and breaking down stations designated by the manager.
- Cook and otherwise prepare foods according to recipes and directions.
- Maintain accurate portions when preparing and serving items on the line.
- Maintain daily temperature logs.
- Take samples of all food items on the line prior to serving customers and alert management if items do not meet quality expectations.
- Complete opening and closing station checklists.
- Greet customers as they approach and leave the serving line.
- Address customer concerns and handle complaints while maintaining a positive attitude and smile.
- Maintain a clean work station, including floors, work areas, equipment, walls, refrigerators, and meat blocks.
- Clean and sanitize all work areas and serving utensils.
- Accurately dispose of waste from the service line.
- Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand or by cart.
- Assist with daily safety observations and report hazards to management immediately.
- Cross‑train in areas as needed and work concessions, catering, and special events as required.
- Perform tasks requested by management on a weekly, bi‑weekly, or monthly basis.
- Lead and advise employees on the line to ensure timely and effective service.
- Request support from utility workers for sanitation issues as needed.
- Great customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership and supervisory experience.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Serve Safe Certification.
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Food service experience preferred.
- Ability to lift and transport hot food items frequently.
- Comfortable working inside a kitchen area, interacting with heated equipment, steam, loud noise, chemicals, and other risk conditions.
This role may involve lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended walking and standing. Uniforms and personal protective equipment may be required.
