PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aerospace industry to hire Experienced Aircraft Painters to support a high-profile widebody aircraft program in North Charleston, South Carolina. In this role, your expertise will directly impact aircraft quality, appearance, and readiness—delivering finishes that meet exacting customer and regulatory standards.
This is a 100% onsite role with multiple shifts available. Candidates must be willing to support all shifts based on business needs.
What You’ll Do
As an Aircraft Painter, you will be responsible for the complete exterior paint process on aircraft sections, including:
- Performing aircraft painting per customer design and livery requirements
- Verifying aircraft readiness prior to exterior finish application
- Preparing aircraft surfaces through cleaning, masking, sanding, and priming
- Making patterns, performing layouts, and applying primers, paints, and finishes
- Applying external markings and multi-stage paint systems (base coat/clear coat)
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions
- Maintaining strict FOD, safety, and hazardous material handling standards
- Working at heights using fall protection equipment and elevated platforms
- Using personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- Supporting training and certification requirements tied to the assignment
Required Qualifications
- Willingness to work any assigned shift
, including overtime - Minimum 3 years of relevant paint experience
- At least 1 year of aircraft, automotive, or industrial painting experience
- Experience working at heights and using fall protection equipment
- Ability to complete and maintain Fall Protection Certification
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly (21–35 lbs occasionally)
- Comfortable with prolonged standing, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and working in confined or elevated spaces
- Experience handling sealants, solvents, and hazardous materials safely
- Ability to attend and successfully complete required training This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies:
1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or
2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of aerospace paint experience
- Experience with large-scale, multi-stage paint processes using compressed air
- Strong knowledge of:
- Adhesive materials and processes
- Color matching and paint formulation
- Organic chemical processing (priming, top-coating, surface prep)
- Polymers, composites, sealants, and finishes
- General shop processes including FOD prevention and material handling
Training & Schedule Information
- Training: 3–4 weeks on first shift (required)
- Shifts: Must be flexible to work any of the following schedules as assigned
- Mon–Fri: 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift
- Mon–Thu alternate schedules
- Fri–Sun weekend shifts
- Dress Code: Teamwear provided onsite
- Per Diem: $600/week available for eligible candidates
