Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is currently seeking Experienced Composite Fabrication Specialists (Level B or
C) to assist with multiple areas of the 787 production system in North Charleston, South Carolina on a variable shift!
This role offers an exciting opportunity within a dynamic manufacturing assembly environment. Team members will leverage prior experience, and knowledge gained from training and certifications to complete daily assigned tasks effectively.
Individuals will be responsible for identifying work locations on advanced airplanes, parts, and tooling by interpreting intricate drawings to accurately complete detailed work instructions. Attention to detail and procedure compliance is critical to identify all necessary hand tools, parts, and equipment required to ensure defect‑free work.
Primary Responsibilities- Complete the New Hire Training Cycle Flow to obtain and maintain all required certifications.
- Adhere to high standards of safety and quality.
- Comply with FAA and Boeing QMS requirements.
- Ensure work conforms to engineering drawings and specifications, has First Pass Quality (FPQ) and is free from Foreign Object Debris.
- Use computers and software applications in a production environment.
- Look up, read, comprehend technical work instructions, drawings and/or specifications.
- Wear appropriate protective clothing and equipment determined by the task.
- Operate mechanical lifts of various types (e.g. ladders, tiger and snorkel lifts).
- Use various hand tools.
- Perform climbing/balancing, crawling, crouching, and working around energized sources and constant noise.
- Manipulate fingers (e.g., keyboarding), read from a computer screen, printed drawings or documents.
- Carry and lift up to 10‑35 pounds.
- Perform flexion/extension, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, rotating the head/neck, standing, twisting at the waist, and walking.
- Experience with conventional material lay‑up, precision measuring, power, pneumatic and hand tools.
- Obtain CNC experience.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Export control compliance requirements apply. To meet these requirements a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).
Basic Qualifications- Ability to work a variable shift.
- Meet physical demands of the role such as flexion and extension, handling, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, rotation of head/neck, standing, twisting at the waist, walking, and climbing/balancing.
- Carry and lift up to 10‑35 pounds.
- Work with high‑hazard chemicals.
- 6+ months experience using software applications for internet navigation, email, Microsoft Suite and/or other specialized computer applications.
- 6+ months experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading, and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications in English.
- 6+ months experience in a technical or mechanical field performing work with basic hand, power and/or pneumatic (air) tools.
- 3+ years of related work experience or equivalent education and experience.
- 3+ years of experience with conventional material lay‑up, precision measuring, power, pneumatic and hand tools.
- 3+ years of CNC experience.
- 3+ years of crane operations experience.
- 3+ years of experience reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, material processes, schematics and diagrams in aviation.
