RMC is seeking an experienced IaaS Converged Support - VMware Engineer to support a U.S. Navy enterprise environment in North Charleston, SC or New Orleans, LA.

Role OverviewThe VMware Engineer will manage and optimize converged infrastructure, ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performing virtualized environments across on-premises and cloud platforms. This position is hands-on and customer-focused, supporting mission-critical Department of Defense systems.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and deploy hardware profiles and firmware upgrades for Cisco UCS B2xx blades and associated UCS shelves and components
- Install, configure, patch, and maintain VMware hypervisors, vCenter, and related cloud and virtualization infrastructure
- Perform system hardening and vulnerability remediation; partner with IA/C&A teams on security scans, compliance audits, and STIG application for VMware and server platforms
- Troubleshoot VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM), perform upgrades, and apply STIGs to virtual appliances to support disaster recovery objectives
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues in preproduction and production environments, including root analysis and corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (e.g., Power Shell, Python) to streamline deployment, configuration management, and routine operations.
- Monitor performance and capacity across local and remote environments, tuning configurations to improve reliability, scalability, and efficiency
- Collaborate with network, storage, and security teams to design, test, and implement integrated cloud-based and on-premises solutions.
- Administer SAN storage infrastructure, perform daily maintenance, and ensure data integrity, backup, and recoverability
- Create and maintain lifecycle documentation, including configurations, patch records, architecture diagrams, and RMF artifacts to support audits and accreditation.
- Support DoD RMF compliance, provide Tier III escalation support for infrastructure incidents, and participate in after-hours or on-call rotation as required for mission support
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems
- Minimum of three (3) years of IT experience managing hybrid software, web, and hardware systems across the full lifecycle—from design through maintenance
- Demonstrated experience integrating network operating systems, application software, and hardware throughout system engineering processes
- At least one (1) year of hands-on technical experience in system engineering or administration within a cloud environment
Must possess one of the following baseline certifications:
- CompTIA Security+
- CompTIA CASP
- CISSP
Candidate must also meet DoD 8570 requirements and possess an Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II or higher certification.
Security Clearance RequirementsMust be a U.S. citizen with an active Secret security clearance;
Top Secret eligibility is preferred.
