Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Registered Nurse – Operating Room (days 9a-7p).

Responsibilities
  • Execute professional nursing care in accordance with physician treatment plans to provide comfort and well-being for patients and their families or support systems.
  • Assess patient needs, plan and implement the treatment plan, observe and document pertinent observations, and evaluate patient progress.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary health team to meet holistic patient needs and direct the delivery of nursing care by other nursing staff.
  • Participate in the orientation process of new employees.
Job Responsibilities
  • Collect patient health data involving the patient, family, and other health care providers.
  • Perform initial assessment based on patient presentation and record relevant data on the nursing component of the Interdisciplinary Admission Assessment.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the needs of each age group or culture served and those with disabilities. Conduct ongoing assessments per department policy and patient response.
  • Incorporate discharge planning into the admission process and analyze assessment data to identify problems and expected outcomes.
  • Develop and implement a plan of care, collaborate with patient, family, and health care providers, and integrate cultural, ethnic, and spiritual aspects into care.
  • Provide education to patient and family, document plans and updates, set realistic goals, and use time efficiently.
  • Monitor patients, adapt nursing procedures to individual needs, address safety hazards, and work with the team to implement interventions.
  • Delegate tasks in accordance with the state nurse practice act and the skills of the caregiver; manage medication administration, transcription, verification, and documentation per policy.
  • Evaluate progress toward outcomes and revise the plan as needed; identify barriers and utilize resources to improve patient/family outcomes.
  • Maintain professional interactions with staff and contribute to professional development of peers and health care providers.
  • Engage with the Nurse Manager or Nursing Administrative Supervisor when issues require escalation and participate in performance appraisal and environment of care improvements.
Minimum Qualifications

To qualify you must have a professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice acquired through completion of a two-year program at an accredited School of Nursing; a current New York State license or permit as a Registered Professional Nurse; interpersonal skills to interact with patients and families recognizing cultural diversity; customer-service oriented practice; ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written format;

analytical ability to assess and develop solutions to clinical situations; maintains knowledge and proficiency in the clinical area and age group served; BLS certification and de-escalation training; ACLS (ICU, Float pool); ability to frequently lift/carry more than 75 lbs and push/pull more than 100 lbs; ability to frequently bend, squat, kneel, climb stairs/ladder and reach above shoulders.
