Job Description Summary
Possessing an SPD-Relevant Certification (CRCST or CBSPD) with a minimum of 2 years of SPD experience, the Sterile Processing Technician Lead manages the reprocessing cycle for surgical instrumentation, including disassembly, decontamination, disinfection, inspection, testing, assembly, packaging, labeling, and sterilization. He/she takes care of and operates ultrasonic cleaners, washers, sterilizers, and other equipment.
Completes quality monitoring and documentation. Performs quality assurance activities. Is responsible for supply inventory management and clinic instrument rounds. Mentors, trains, coaches, and role models new Sterile Processing Technicians. Serves as leader for the department to promote teamwork within the department and with other departments. Performs all duties with a commitment to excellence in quality and customer service. Performs other duties as assigned.

Work ShiftMinimum Requirements
- Graduate of high school or GED equivalency examination
- Certified and maintain a certification in sterile processing as a CRCST - HSPA or CBSPD
- Have at least 2 years’ experience in sterile processing
- Pass internal department exam and requirements for the position
- Understand and implement detailed instructions in execution of processes
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Basic computer skills required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure healthcare environment
- Leadership, supervisory or management experience preferred
- Excellent interpersonal skills required
- Detail oriented
Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) certification preferred
Travel and Work Requirements- Travel may be required
- Holiday work and emergency management/disaster teamwork required
- If expectations are not met, the individual will be demoted with pay reduction
(C) Continuous – 6-8 hours per shift; (F) Frequent – 2-6 hours per shift; (I) Infrequent – 0-2 hours per shift. Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors/outdoors, in temperature extremes, from elevated areas, confined spaces, kneeling positions, bending, twisting, squatting, pinching, etc. Ability to perform gross and fine manual tasks, lift up to 50 lbs, reach overhead, maintain vision 20/40 corrected, hearing acuity, manage stressful situations, work rotating shifts, overtime as required, work in latex safe environments.
