Overview
Physical Therapist Assistant II works under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist to assist with a patient’s treatment program in accordance with federal guidelines and state practice acts. The PTA II assists in the provision of screens, collection of assessment data and direct treatment to a general rehab caseload in single or multiple sites under the direction and supervision of a Physical Therapist in accordance with state and national practice guidelines.
The PTA II participates in the clinical team process and participates in clinical program development. PTA II also provides teaching and training to caregiver staff, and functions as a resource to the PTA I.
- Assist one or more Physical Therapists in evaluating and providing treatment to help patients recover from injury, disease, surgery, or other ailments.
- Prepare patients and equipment for therapy and implement treatment plans as instructed, including exercises, stretching maneuvers, hands-on therapy, and equipment.
- Record patient responses to treatment and provide status reports at the end of each treatment.
- Collaborate in clinical team processes and clinical program development.
- Provide teaching and training to caregiver staff and serve as a resource to the PTA I.
- Graduation from an accredited physical therapist assistant program.
- One year of work experience as a physical therapy assistant is required.
- Licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant by the South Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners is required.
