Chief Executive Officer – Palmetto Low country Behavioral Health
Location:
North Charleston, SC (Palmetto Low country Behavioral Health is a 108‑bed inpatient psychiatric hospital in Charleston, SC). Salary: $63,000.00–$72,000.00.
Palmetto Low country Behavioral Health provides comprehensive psychiatric and substance‑abuse services, including specialized care for veterans through the Patriot Support Program. The facility is part of Universal Health Services (UHS), a Fortune 300 healthcare provider with approximately 99,000 employees nationwide.
Responsibilities- Lead the organization and foster a culture aligned with the mission, vision, and values.
- Operate and manage clinical and non‑clinical departments (Nursing, Admissions, Business Development, Process Improvement, Finance, Clinical Services, Regulatory Affairs) to improve patient outcomes.
- Ensure quality metrics are met through sound clinical processes and adherence to accreditation and regulatory requirements.
- Recruit physicians and staff in targeted specialty areas, coordinate medical staff participation, and build new medical care offerings.
- Supervise development of outpatient care and ambulatory programs, and cultivate relationships with local industry, government, health‑care partners, and the public.
- Prepare and submit month‑end financial and operational reviews; assist in corporate‑wide strategic planning.
- Communicate operational circumstances and events to supervisors and relevant stakeholders.
- Achieve budgeted financial objectives, manage contract negotiations, and maintain or reduce bad‑debt rates and operating costs.
- Drive census growth and strategic planning efforts.
- Bachelor’s Degree required;
Master’s Degree preferred. - Current experience as a behavioral‑health executive (e.g., CEO of a behavioral‑health facility) or director of a large acute‑care psych department.
- In‑depth knowledge of behavioral‑health management practices, clinical operations, state and federal regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Strong understanding of operations, financial management and marketing methods.
- Ability to travel a minimum of 10% of the time.
