Senior Electrical Engineer, Mission Critical - Traveler

Join JE Dunn Construction as a Senior Electrical Engineer in a mission‑critical, travel‑intensive role. The position is part of the Advanced Facilities Group (AFG), focusing on large industrial / manufacturing, data‑center, and semiconductor projects across the country.

Key Role Responsibilities – Core
  • Learn and actively participate in all aspects of the company’s safety and quality plans, demonstrating commitment to an injury‑free environment.
  • Complete entry‑level and routine mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities.
  • Develop budgetary M/E estimates based on program and schematic design information using an automated M/E estimating system.
  • Assist in the review of mechanical and electrical options as part of the preconstruction process and complete systems analysis for selected projects.
  • Assist in the development of mechanical and electrical scopes of work for bid processes.
  • Assist in bid analysis and provide input during subcontractor selection.
  • Assist in developing sequencing requirements of various systems and providing solutions to meet schedule requirements.
  • Identify potential quality problems through design document reviews and assist in developing constructability review reports.
  • Perform job inspections to ensure specifications and expectations are met and work is completed in a quality and timely manner.
  • Participate in shop‑drawing/submittal processes to comply with contract documents.
  • Assist with the commissioning process including developing pre‑functional checklists, functional testing procedures, and actual functional testing.
  • Promote a culture of diversity and inclusion and understand JE Dunn’s non‑discrimination policies.
Key Role Responsibilities – Additional Core
  • Complete increasingly complex mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities.
  • Develop budgetary M/E estimates from program and schematic design information.
  • Review mechanical and electrical options, perform systems analysis, recommend best systems, and provide value‑engineering suggestions.
  • Coordinate the mechanical and electrical scopes of work during the bid process.
  • Develop sequencing requirements of various systems and provide solutions to meet schedule requirements; provide scheduling input during projects.
  • Review design documents and identify potential quality problems; help develop quality‑control programs.
  • Perform job inspections at various times to ensure specifications and expectations are met.
  • Develop pre‑functional checklists and functional testing procedures; verify contractor performance of functional tests.
  • Review and approve shop drawings prior to submission to the design team.
  • Generate and issue the commissioning plan for approval; verify deficiencies are corrected and submit commissioning documentation to owners.
  • Mentor less experienced coworkers.
  • Create M/E tools and innovative solutions to continuously improve processes and work products.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion; understand and implement JE Dunn’s non‑discrimination policies.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Accurate and timely work performance.
  • Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read and understand plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Proficiency with basic JE Dunn construction M/E tools and software.
  • Knowledge of construction management methods and means.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships internally and externally.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field (Required).
  • Equivalent relevant experience considered in lieu of the above requirement.
Experience
  • 5+ years of construction and/or engineering experience (Preferred).
Working Environment
  • Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required.
