This role is embedded in the Manufacturing Engineering group within our Global Operations Engineering team at our new state-of-the-art device manufacturing facility in North Charleston, South Carolina. This role is intended to serve as the Operations Engineering SME for our internal metal forming processes, which include both an inline spring forming / heat treating process, as well as a cold forming and cleaning process.
Responsibilities- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to lead and support new equipment & process introduction, development, and improvement initiatives at the site
- Serve as an interface between Process Development and Operations, ensuring our metals manufacturing equipment and processes are introduced into mass production in a robust and repeatable way
- Provide input to global colleagues on local findings, issues, and improvements to ensure cross-site standardization
- Develop documentation to help end-users navigate daily operation of the equipment and troubleshoot common issues
- Work with fellow engineers in process development, product design, and quality engineering to drive and support root cause analysis, NCMR investigation/bounding, and CAPA planning & implementation
- Lead & support troubleshooting and issue resolution of critical production systems to minimize unplanned downtime
- Lead and support the identification of novel manufacturing systems and software for next gen manufacturing systems. Promote use of new technologies and industry-leading trends. Provide highest level of technical expertise
- Serve as the local site lead for capacity expansion with respect to metal forming processes and component production
- Support equipment retrofits and the subsequent verification/validation activities required
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent education/experience required
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience working with metal forming processes
- Fundamental understanding of metallic material properties and how they impact the associated processes
- Knowledge of common problem-solving and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and prioritize workload.
- Effective analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent intercultural and interdisciplinary communication skills
- Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and focus on efficiency, effectiveness and cost
- Medical device experience preferred
