Scope of PositionThis highly motivated individual, as part of the Maintenance Department, will be responsible for maintenance and repair activities for the building facilities, grounds, as well as production & handling equipment. Maintains, tests and repairs a wide range of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems and components. Applies knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and restores equipment to operation.
Provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of Manufacturing. An ideal candidate for this position will have a broad range of experience in the building trades, particularly in a manufacturing and industrial warehouse environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and/or electrical equipment including but not limited to lift & transport trucks, water plumbing, and specialized production test equipment
- Plans and performs work requiring a strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical theories and principles
- Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA and Watts safety requirements
- Advises operators and supervisors of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical and mechanical equipment and components
- Install & relocate warehouse racking when needed
- Maintains company‑required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment
- Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed or scheduled
- Proactively identifies problems and takes prompt action, informing appropriate management and other maintenance mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved
- Trains and assists other maintenance team members where appropriate
- Highly safety‑conscious
- Willing to work overtime when required
- Performs other duties as required
- 3‑5 years minimum of experience in the electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and/or pneumatic fields with demonstrated proficiency
- Experience with building & construction trades and best practices / techniques
- Basic understanding of common local and national building codes
- Proficient with full array of hand and power tools
- Working understanding of the properties of various materials including wood, metals, and plastics
- Working understanding of electrical principles
- Ability to understand and communicate proficiently in English
- Experience operating equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, etc
- Highly mechanically inclined
- Experience with and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
- Personally motivated and able to work with minimal supervision or direction
- Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks and required pre‑employment testing as a condition of employment
- Specific experience with commercial or industrial building maintenance
- Specific experience with manufacturing maintenance
- License in a trades area (plumbing, electrician, etc)
- OSHA training
- Machining experience
- Welding / Plasma cutting experience
- Commercial Driver’s License, either current and active or past experience in driving
- Computer experience preferred but not critical (Outlook, Word, Excel, internet)
- Multi‑lingual:
Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus
