Wieland is hiring an Electrical Service Engineer
. The Electrical Service Engineer will support and lead electrical maintenance efforts such as installations, repairs, troubleshooting, and programming activities. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of heavy industrial electrical systems, including high-voltage distribution, motors, drives, furnaces, and process control equipment. The Electrical Engineer will act as a technical leader, mentor junior electricians, and ensure all electrical work complies with safety regulations and industry standards.

This role is located in Pine Hall, NC and will be fully on-site.

Responsibilities
  • Electrical Maintenance & Reliability – Lead preventive and corrective maintenance on plant electrical systems, including switch gear, transformers, power distribution, furnaces, rolling mills, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Troubleshooting & Repairs – Diagnose and resolve complex electrical faults, minimizing downtime in a high-production environment.
  • Equipment Installation – Oversee installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment, motors, drives, and controls.
  • Safety & Compliance – Ensure strict adherence to electrical safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and NFPA/NEC codes.
  • Leadership & Mentoring – Supervise and mentor electricians and apprentices; provide technical training and guidance.
  • Project Support – Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams on capital projects, upgrades, and system improvements.
  • Documentation & Reporting – Maintain accurate logs of inspections, testing, and repair work for compliance and reliability tracking.
  • Continuous Improvement – Recommend and implement reliability improvements to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment life.
Qualifications
  • 7‑10+ years of industrial electrical experience, preferably in primary metals manufacturing (steel, aluminum, or related heavy industry).
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including high-voltage distribution and heavy manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of and strong troubleshooting skills with Siemens PLCs, VFDs, and motor control systems.
  • Experience with power systems supporting furnaces, casting, and rolling operations.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
  • Strong safety awareness and commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.
  • Effective problem‑solving and decision‑making under pressure in fast‑paced operations.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills for cross‑department collaboration.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified electrical apprenticeship program.
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician license (required).
  • Proven experience maintaining and troubleshooting large motors, drives, switch gear, and high‑voltage systems.
  • Familiarity with predictive and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Ability to work safely in a physically demanding environment (heat, dust, noise, heavy equipment).
  • Valid driver's license; ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and respond to call‑outs as needed.
