Summary

Delta Star Inc. is seeking a detail‑oriented and customer‑focused Proposal Specialist – Field Service (FS) to support the commercial lifecycle of transformer field service projects nationwide. If you excel at reviewing technical specifications, developing competitive proposals, and collaborating across internal and external teams, we want to hear from you!

What You’ll Do

As a Proposal Specialist – Field Service, you’ll work closely with sales representatives, internal business functions, outside agencies, contractors, and customers to develop accurate, high‑quality proposals. You’ll evaluate specifications, respond to RFQs, prepare quotations, support the order‑to‑cash process, and help position Delta Star’s Field Service Business Unit (FSBU) for continued growth.

A Day in the Life

Your day will include reviewing customer specifications, generating proposals, coordinating with field service and engineering teams, and ensuring all commercial requirements are clearly understood. You’ll maintain detailed RFQ and pricing records, follow up on outstanding quotes, and support management with reporting and data insights. Whether you’re preparing change orders, supporting customer purchase order reviews, or providing seamless project hand‑offs, your work will help secure new business and strengthen customer relationships.

Specific Duties
  • Promote and position the transformer field service business to generate consistent year‑over‑year growth.
  • Collaborate with direct and outside sales reps to identify and capture new aftermarket opportunities.
  • Review specifications and prepare quotations for internal and external RFQs.
  • Coordinate and conduct proposal reviews with FS management.
  • Follow up on all submitted quotes and maintain monthly sales reports.
  • Coordinate efforts internally to resolve questions or issues related to field service requests.
  • Maintain detailed RFQ records, pricing information, customer communications, and associated documentation.
  • Support data mining and tracking initiatives to improve business decision‑making.
  • Review purchase orders prior to acceptance; enter sales orders; deliver project hand‑offs; submit change orders; support invoicing.
  • Assist FS management with data capture and KPI reporting.
  • Support additional needs within the FS business as required.
What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a proactive, communicative, and customer‑oriented professional with strong technical comprehension and a passion for winning high‑quality field service business.

Position Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience reviewing customer specifications and preparing quotations for transformer/substation field service projects (7–10 years preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or related field; an associate degree or high school diploma may be considered with additional experience.
  • Training or knowledge in NFPA 70E, IEEE, NETA, or transformer/substation standards is a plus.
  • Ability to work from Delta Star’s Field Service headquarters in Forest, VA, other satellite FS locations, or remotely.
  • Must have a stable home internet connection and cellular service suitable for routine business operations.
  • Strong customer focus and proven ability to build and maintain relationships internally and externally.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective negotiation skills with the ability to understand customer needs and articulate value propositions.
