We are looking for a QC Lead who is independent of construction personnel and supports the Project Manager and project team in the Construction Quality Management Program. The QC Lead ensures compliance with project standards and specifies requirements for all disciplines. The QC Lead is allocated to the Project Manager and reports to the Quality Manager.
Responsibilities- Ensure that quality plans are implemented and executed for projects.
- Support the Quality Manager on quality matters related to coordination and surveillance of work.
- Conduct internal pre-inspection and pre-activity meetings and participate in kick-off meetings with contractors, clients, and third-party inspectors on site.
- Verify subcontractor personnel qualifications (e.g., non-destructive testing, concrete testing, surveying) are current prior to construction activities.
- Verify compliance of project- and code-specific requirement documents (e.g., quality plans, ITPs, procedures) for all disciplines, internally and with subcontractors.
- Act as the contact person for clients and subcontractors on quality matters.
- Communicate quality matters to the Project Manager and stakeholders.
- Participate in regular meetings with the project team, contractors, and clients.
- Coordinate with client Quality personnel, subcontractors, and third-party inspection and testing.
- Monitor, witness, and report inspections and testing according to project requirements; review and validate quality documents for compliance.
- Verify calibration of measuring and testing equipment.
- Prepare project-specific quality plans, procedures, and inspection forms as needed.
- Prepare and issue daily quality inspection reports.
- Verify material test reports for materials and equipment as specified by contract.
- Monitor receiving of incoming materials and equipment for noncompliance and/or damage.
- Manage, track, and store quality-related documents for final turnover.
- Verify and report completion of corrective actions for nonconformances.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and ensure requirements are understood prior to construction activities.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask and manage time to meet deadlines.
- Self-starter and able to work in a team atmosphere.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment including standing, walking, frequent sitting, kneeling, bending, crouching, reaching, and climbing.
- Work will be conducted in both indoor and outdoor environments in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- 10+ years of experience in the electrical high voltage transmission and substation industry.
- 5+ years of experience in construction quality management preferred.
- Experience monitoring and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
