Position overview and responsibilities

Welding inspectors perform visual inspections on welded products and structures in progress and on completed jobs. They search for defects in the weld such as cracks and pits, and use magnification to identify defects that could weaken the joint. Inspectors measure welded products to ensure they meet dimensional specifications and evaluate weld quality through stress testing when applicable. They also check weld machine setup and the welding techniques of welders on work in progress and record the results of tests and inspections.

• Review project requirements, determine minimal requirements and procedures, and schedule and coordinate examinations, inspections, or tests for the assigned discipline or project segment.
• Perform examinations, inspections, or tests as required by project management and/or client/owner.
• Coordinate training, craft testing, and/or train personnel on required construction procedures and proper use of tools and instruments.
• Provide technical assistance to project management in selecting construction procedures to meet project specifications.
• Assist project management in selecting tools, instruments, and test equipment to support the project quality control effort.
• Assist in selecting and testing personnel to perform specific work activities to ensure work meets project requirements.
• Schedule examinations, inspections, or tests as required by the project.
• Coordinate examination, inspection, and test plans with project management and client representatives.
• Complete and maintain inspection, test, examination, and Quality Control Records; ensure implementation of the job site QC program.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience
• Aptitude and manual dexterity; good reading comprehension
• Ability to work well in a team; strong communication skills with co-workers and supervisors
• Commitment to Zachry values and safety rules and regulations
• Other duties as assigned

• Current Zachry employee or previously approved ROF status
• Experience with Zachry Industrial, Inc. or related Intercompany experience
• Past QC experience
