The Town of Franklin is accepting applications for a full‑time Street Maintenance Crew Member. The role performs various unskilled and semi‑skilled labor tasks related to street right‑of‑way mowing, street cleaning, brush removal, and related maintenance activities.

• Operate riding and push mowers to maintain town rights of way and grounds; operate leaf blower and edger.
• Operate small equipment such as weed trimmers, edgers, chainsaws, and power tools.
• Place OSHA warning signage as necessary and flag traffic for other employees.
• During snow and storm events help clear town rights of way and parking areas of snow and debris, and apply salt to sidewalks.
• Assist with concrete repair of sidewalks.
• Assist with landscape maintenance including weed and mulching.
• Assist with special events and festivals; help install holiday decorations.
• Flag traffic for other crews.
• Follow relevant safety practices and procedures in equipment operation.

• Working knowledge of grounds and landscape maintenance methods.
• Working knowledge of basic maintenance and construction methods.
• Working knowledge of safety regulations, occupational hazards, and related safety precautions.
• Skill in use and care of assigned tools and equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Ability to cooperate and work as a team member in carrying out assignments.
• Ability to ride and operate power mowers, trimmers, and hand and power tools for grounds maintenance and basic maintenance or construction tasks.
• Ability to perform continuous heavy manual labor at a steady pace and in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to walk for extensive periods of time.
• Ability to prepare simple records of work activities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public to respond to inquiries about town services.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and the general public.

• Graduation from high school.
• Some experience in semi‑skilled maintenance or brush removal and mowing.

• Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
