OverviewThe perioperative RN works with the team to prepare and recover patients for minor outpatient surgery and GI procedures, provides discharge teaching and patient education, transports patients as needed, and performs IV insertions.
- Uses the nursing process to assess, plan, and evaluate patient care.
- Provides nursing care considering the age group served within the healthcare system.
- Demonstrates appropriate safety and infection control measures.
- Teaches, directs, advises, and informs others in a professional manner.
- Reports and records information legibly and appropriately.
- Maintains annual unit-specific mandatory competencies prior to expiration.
- Attends and completes required meetings, in-services, and competency validation activities.
Graduate of an approved School of Nursing with a current North Carolina RN license or RN multi-state licensure privilege through the Nurse Licensure Compact. Minimum of one (1) year Medical-Surgical Nursing or PACU experience preferred.
CertificationsBCLS upon hire, with ACLS and PALS preferred upon hire or obtained within six (6) months, and then maintained.
