We are looking for a Communicable Disease Coordinator and Rabies Control Nurse for the Health Department. This person will be responsible for receiving reports regarding all types of communicable diseases (including Tuberculosis) and ensuring appropriate follow-up and treatment are completed. This person is also part of the Health Department’s Epidemiological Team and serves as the Employee Health Nurse and OSHA contact.

This person must possess good organization and communication skills. Must have a current license to practice as Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the N.C. Board of Nursing.

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a B.S. in Nursing which includes a Public Health Nursing rotation and two years of Public Health Nursing experience; or Master’s Degree in Public Health and graduation from a school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience; or graduation from a school of professional nursing and three years of professional nursing experience including two years of Public Health Nursing experience;

or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.

• Two step TST (skin test). If you have had a negative TST within the last 12 months, you must have another one completed prior to employment
• Proof of MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) immunity: documentation of two doses or laboratory evidence of immunity
• Hepatitis B series:
  Either evidence of 3 doses; signed declination form or lab evidence of immunity
• Evidence of Tdap vaccine
• Evidence of varicella immunity: documentation of two doses or history of varicella/herpes zoster or laboratory evidence of immunity
• If working in the lab, must have documented proof of one dose of meningococcal vaccine
