ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital is a 114‑bed rural medical center located in Ahoskie, North Carolina. Roanoke‑Chowan serves ~40,000 patients per year and performs ~200 anesthetics each month. The schedule is shared between two anesthesiologists, in a one‑week on, one‑week off format. Surgical cases start at 07:00 and end at 15:00. Call begins at 15:00. First call is shared with the anesthesiologist.
The OR is covered by two CRNAs and one anesthesiologist every day, Monday through Friday.
The CRNA will be employed by East Carolina Anesthesia Associates, one of the largest anesthesia private practices in North Carolina. The practice is managed and operated by the anesthesiologists that provide services at its various sites across the state. The structure allows significant autonomy with immediate support as needed. The Eastern teams work collaboratively to ensure CRNAs are comfortably assimilated into their role and practice.
Ahoskie is a rural town in the northeastern part of the state with “small‑town charm.” The town is great for those who want autonomy in work and love the outdoors. It is an hour from Rocky Mount, Greenville, Roanoke Rapids, and about an hour and a half from the Outer Banks and Virginia Beach shorelines.
