Hours:
2nd Shift, Mid Shift/Night Shift | No Supervisory Responsibilities | No Travel | Pay commensurate with experience.
- Provide direct, professional nursing care to patients in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Follow the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation of care.
- Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary team to provide physical and psychological support to patients and families.
- Provide care in the Emergency Department for patients with illnesses or trauma requiring emergency attention and recognize and treat life-saving conditions.
- Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients, families and friends.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment and adhere to infection control policies.
- Ensure safe operation of equipment and prepare equipment for examinations and treatments; assist physicians during examinations and treatments specific to ER.
- Administer medications using the electronic health record and scanning process; document, monitor and report symptoms and changes in patient status.
- Educate patients about illness and disease, promote health maintenance and disease prevention; maintain confidentiality of patient records.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families and team members; perform head-to-toe assessments and reassessments for all age groups.
- Develop and update individualized plans of care; act as a patient advocate; comply with protocols, procedures and policies.
- Demonstrate knowledge of cardiac monitoring, rhythm interpretation and appropriate treatment; prioritize nursing care and use critical thinking.
- Administer and dose critical medications appropriately; document all nursing care concisely and accurately.
- Collaborate with hospital staff, visitors, families and physicians; adapt to stressful and emergency situations with professionalism.
- Participate in orientation, training of new personnel and quality improvement initiatives.
- Understand triage processes and prioritize acuity based on patient needs.
- Experience:
Recent emergency or critical care experience preferred. Two years ER experience.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of NC.
- Current CPR Certification.
- ACLS Certification obtained during orientation period.
- PALS Certification obtained within 3 months.
- TNCC Certification preferred.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Computer knowledge.
- Knowledge of anesthetic drugs, actions and side effects.
- Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (e.g., flu shot). All new employees must be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment unless an exemption is requested and approved.
- Criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen required upon conditional job offer.
