Hours:

2nd shift, nights will vary | Supervisory Responsibilities | No Travel | Pay commensurate with experience PRN, night shift position in MBU.

Job Summary

Our Nursing team member’s primary goal is to provide the most remarkable patient experience while providing professional nursing services and patient care in various inpatient and outpatient settings. The House Supervisor collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary team to provide physical and psychological support to patients and families. The House Supervisor functions as an advisor, resource, preceptor, and leader for other healthcare team members.

He/She facilitates and coordinates bed flow and manages staff resources while assisting with day-to-day operations.

Experience
  • Five years of previous clinical experience in nursing preferred
License/Certifications
  • Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of NC.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • ACLS certification obtained within six months of hire.
  • PALS certification obtained within six months of hire.
  • NRP Certification preferred.
Essential Functions
  • Oversees patient care assignments based on patient care needs and competency of available staff.
  • Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, friends, and staff.
  • Observes, supervises, and evaluates nursing care.
  • Rounds on patients to ensure exceptional nursing care is provided. Rounds in all nursing departments every shift.
  • Accountable for smooth operations of departments throughout the hospital during scheduled shift.
  • Provides support to other hospital departments as needed (e.g., code blue, code capacity, emergency operations plan, complaints).
  • Communicates routinely with nursing personnel, physicians, and staff members regarding problems throughout the hospital during scheduled shift.
  • Assists with completion of schedules and staffing.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement activities and reports findings to the Director of Inpatient Services or Director of Quality Performance.
  • Schedules staff according to patient census and department needs and evaluates staffing patterns and trends.
  • Collaborates with Nursing Leadership council to develop goals for Nursing Service.
  • Manages interpersonal relationships with personnel in a way to enhance labor relations among staff.
  • Provides real-time employee coaching when standards or policies are not followed, or performance is subpar.
  • In collaboration with nursing leadership, develops and reviews nursing policies and procedures.
  • Makes decisions in matters requiring prompt attention. Consults with Administrator on Call when needed.
  • Serves as a role model by demonstrating compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Provides relief for breaks and lunch for clinical nursing staff as needed.
  • Assists with direct patient care as needed and matches staff competency with patient acuity.
  • Responds to emergency situations.
  • Maximizes care efficiency.
  • Conducts ongoing evaluations of productivity and is accountable for staffing levels.
  • Remains positive and supports decisions of leadership even when employee disagrees with them.
  • Communicates appropriately and timely, follows the chain of command and shares confidential information only with the appropriate personnel.
  • Manages human resources within the scope of Labor Laws.
  • Seeks knowledge and guidance from their one up, when unsure of action to take.
  • Handles patient complaints as the first line in service recovery.
  • Works with hospitalists and care team with transfers to other facilities.
